Warde Boys' Soccer Edges Greenwich, 2-1

Mustangs win sixth straight and earn home game in first round of FCIAC playoffs with the victoryThe Fairfield Warde boys soccer team is heading into the FCIAC playoffs with a ton of momentum.

 

Sal Siciliano snapped a tie in the final minute of regulation, as the Mustangs edged Greenwich, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon for their sixth straight victory.

Warde, which clinched an FCIAC playoff spot with its 4-0 win at St. Joseph on Monday, locked up the FCIAC East title with Wednesday's victory.

Perhaps more importantly, the Mustangs also assured themselves a home game in the first round of the FCIAC playoffs as the No. 4 seed and will host either Ridgefield or Wilton on Friday afternoon.

Taylor Rosenblum scored the other goal for the Mustangs (10-3-3), who have won 10 of their last 12 games (9-1-2).

The loss left Greenwich (11-3-1) with the No. 3 seed for the FCIAC playoffs.
